Welcome to my Environmental Science Site!

I am Noreen Nsereko, an environmental science teacher at Theodore Roosevelt High School, Des Moines, Iowa. I have a background in environmental science (BSc Tropical Environmental Science, 1994) and Sustainable Agriculture (Msc Sustainable Agriculture, 1998) and am originally from Scotland. Prior to settling in Iowa I worked and travelled in Africa, Asia, Central and South America and Canada. I became a teacher so that I could share my love of the natural world and my deep concern over our current impact on the planet. I believe this generation will face some tough decisions regarding water availability, land use, air quality, energy, waste and food production. Through my course in environmental science I hope to help students become more aware of their impact on the planet and encourage them to critically consider how we can meet our needs today, without impacting future generations ability to meet their needs.

Who is this site for? I am creating this site as a resource for my environmental science students and our TRHS community. I hope students will use this site to review PowerPoint notes used in class, check the calendar for assignment deadlines, access assignment guidelines and rubrics, post discussion and access sites related to topics we are currently covering in class.
